主讲内容简介:
There is a new word in town, “sustainability”! Specific definitions of sustainability are difficult to agree on and therefore vary in the literature and over time. I would define it as pathways that could be followed to improve the quality of human life based on the evaluation of three elements (also called pillars or dimensions of sustainability): societal impacts, economic impacts, and environmental impacts. A sustainable transport infrastructure is an economically built infrastructure that uses most efficient technology that exists today, often although not always consuming renewable resources and energy, emitting the least emissions, achieving long life, and least affecting the society and ecological systems. The University of California Pavement Research Center is actively engaged in research supported by local, state, and federal government funding. Their focus is on creating sustainable transport infrastructures. The upcoming lecture will highlight the latest developments in this field, offering insights into ongoing projects and advancements.
