Antonio Trani, PhD. is Professor of Civil and Environmental
Engineering at Virginia Tech and Director, Virginia Tech Air Transportation
Systems laboratory, Dr. Trani has 25 years of experience in modeling and
simulation of air transportation systems. Previous work includes development of
various planning, forecasting and simulation models for the FAA, the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Science
Foundation (NSF). Dr. Trani teaches courses in airport planning and design,
analysis of air transportation systems, computer applications in Civil
Engineering and systems engineering. He is co-director of the FAA National
Center of Excellence for Aviation Operations Research (NEXTOR 2). Dr. Trani has
a Bachelor degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University, a Masters degree in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech and a
Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech. Dr. Trani is a
private pilot and also an aviation enthusiast.
Dr.
Trani has served as principal or co-principal investigator on 62 research
projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation, FAA, National
Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Consortium for Aviation
Mobility, Federal Highway Administration, and the Center for Naval Analyses. He
has authored or co-authored 45 research reports and 53 peer-reviewed technical
papers in aviation modeling and simulation and airport-related topics. Dr.
Trani frequently consults for airports and industry in various topics including
runway safety, noise analyses, airport capacity estimates and airspace studies.
He has performed aviation-related consulting studies for the Korean Ministry of
Transportation, Los Angeles World Airports, Norman Manley International Airport
, Boeing Helicopters, Boeing Phantom Works, Charles River Associates,
Seattle-Tacoma Airport Authority, the British Airports Authority, the Civil
Aviation Administration of China, Aeropuertos Servicios Auxiliares de México
and Delta Airport Consultants.

主讲内容简介:This lecture describes important challenges in aviation
today. The lecture focuses on how challenges in aviation could affect the
development of aviation activity in the Unites States and in China. The lecture
is presented in simple language and should be suitable for any college
