主讲人简介
Professor Geoff Rose is the Director of the Monash Institute of Transport Studies located within the Department of Civil Engineering at Monash University. In addition to leading Monash ITS, which has staff located in Melbourne (Australia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Suzhou (China) he is also Program Leader for the Master of Transport and Traffic. Geoff ‘s research and teaching activities cover sustainable transport, travel behaviour, advanced technology and transport policy. Geoff is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and the US Institute of Transportation Engineers.
主讲内容简介
Transport technology has evolved incrementally over many years but more disruptive transport technologies have emerged in the last decade. The revolutionary changes taking place in vehicles and in the growth of the shared economy have many potential implications for the planning and operation of the transport system as well as the distinction typically drawn between public and private transport. Those two domains of disruption are both relevant in the context of autonomous or driverless vehicles. Autonomous vehicles are currently the focus of intensive publicity or promotion, also known as ‘hype’. The technology ‘hype’ curve/cycle provides one perspective on how technological expectations in relation to autonomous vehicles might change over time. This seminar considers some of the short and long term challenges associated with disruptive urban transport technologies.

主讲人简介
Hai L. Vu received the B.Sc./M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary, in 1994 and 1999, respectively. After five years at the University of Melbourne, and eleven years at Swinburne University of Technology, he has recently joined the Engineering Faculty, Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) where he currently is Professor in Intelligent Transport Systems. He is a recipient of the 2012 prestigious research award (the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship) and has authored or coauthored over 150 scientific journals and conference papers. His research interests include modelling, performance analysis and design of complex networks, stochastic optimization and control with applications to connected autonomous vehicles and intelligent transport.

主讲内容简介
Intelligent Transport System (ITS) or Smart Transport is an emerging solution underpinned by the advancements of information and communication technologies to address the challenges posed by a rapid grow of human population, and their mobility needs around the globe. In the future, ITS will evolve as a system-based demand-response solution that provides mobility as a service while optimise the entire transportation system based on its ability to access and analyse the vast amount of data and information in real-time. Such a solution relies on the smart use of information by both the user and mobility provider, and we expect that the real-time information will have a positive and crucial role in this evolution. In this talk, I will explore the role of the real-time information in the context of the network’s operator, and highlight some insights in regard to the value of information in this future connected world.
